Remember me? I’m the one that used to write a blog around these
parts.
After
one rather epic Christmas and New Year break, we are now back home from our
travels (as of yesterday) and pretty much back to reality, apart from the
Christmas tree that still resides in the corner of our lounge.
And what
a wonderful time we’ve had. Christmas was one of the best ever. Relaxed, fun,
delicious and cold! Being at home was perfect and the magic that the children added
to the big day made it so, so special. I didn’t want it to end.
We spent
Christmas Eve on the beach; digging for treasure, playing with paper aeroplanes
and enjoying hot sausages in my parents’ camper van. And the next morning? Father
Christmas was very kind. There were stockings filled with trinkets and
treasures, a ‘big boy bike’ and a very cute kitchen for the little lady, which
has been a total and utter hit.
For New
Year we went to visit Paul’s parents and had an equally lovely time there, exchanging
more gifts, going on more day trips and eeking out the festive period for as
long as we possibly could.
I didn't take nearly enough photos, but spent so much quality time with the people I love and I'll have those memories forever. Our first Christmas back in England. It was the best.
And now here
we are. In 2013. Feeling a little rounder, full to the brim of wine and Prosecco (not to mention the Baileys!) and ready for the new year. I love the start of a new year. I make lists of
things I want to achieve, lists of things that need to be done and always find
I have a renewed drive to finish those annoying little jobs I’ve been
ignoring for months.
I have
absolutely no idea what this year will have in store for us. This time last
year I knew we had some life-changing months ahead. A year on and there
is nothing in particular on the horizon. I think we need that. Mostly we will
focus on settling-in even more to this British life of ours, saving for a house,
possibly going back to work, and then the big one at the end of the year –
waving my first born off to school. But we certainly don’t need to think about
that just yet.
I did
rather enjoy my little blogging {and everything else social media} break, but it
feels really nice to be back. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New
Year and that you’re feeling ready to tackle 2013 head on.
What does this year look like for you?
